Journal club Group meeting on Dec. 23, 2009, Friday (post on Dec. 18., 2009)
Ms. Xiao SUN and Mr. Wei WANG will give one presentation respectively at our next week's journal club. All the spermlab members are required to attend the club. Further information about journal club will be available early next week.

The Sperm Laboratory held the weekly group meeting at 21:00, Dec. 18, 2009 in Room 304E, Life Sciences Building, Zhejiang University. Dr. Wan-Xi Yang talked about laboratory safety and new journal club regulations at the meeting. The spermlab members who have ongoing project should report data at the weekly group meeting.

The Group Meeting of the spermlab was held today (Dec. 11, 2009, Friday). Ms. Liang Xiang (Sasha) presented at the journal club. Title: "Histological aspects and structural characteristics of the testes of Dendropsophus minutus (Anura, Hylidae)". This paper was written by L. The Group Meeting of the spermlab was held on Dec. 4, 2009, Friday. Mr. Na XU presented at the journal club. Title: "UBPy/MSJ-1 system during male germ cell progression in the frog, Rana esculenta", written by Rosaria Meccariello et al., published on General and Comparative Endocrinology 2007, 153: 275–279. Zhi-Juan Chen passed her thesis defense for Master Degree on Nov. 20, 2009 (post on Dec. 7, 2008)
Ms. Zhi-Juan Chen, the graduate student at the Sperm Laboratory, passed her thesis defense for Master's Degree of Science on Nov. 20, 2009. Three professors were involved in the Defense Committee: They are Dr. Qun Wang, professor from East China Normal University; Dr. Qing-Feng Yan, professor from Zhejiang University, and Dr. Jun-Quan Zhu, professor from Ningbo University. The committee was chaired by Prof. Qun Wang. Ms. Zhi-Juan Chen's thesis title is "Expression and functional analysis of tight junction protein occludin and claudin-11 in the testis of African frog", her supervisor is Dr. Wan-Xi Yang.

 The Group Meeting of this week will be held on Oct. 16, 2009, Friday. Ms. Na Xu will reported her data on morphology and ultrastructure of Cynops orientalis sperm, difference between Cynops orientalis and Andrias davidianus spermatozoon will also be compared.  The Group Meeting of this week was held on Oct. 9, 2009, Friday. Mr. Da-Hui Wang reported his data on kifc1 gene cloning in Chinese mitten crab Eriocheir sinensis H. Milne-Eswards and Cynops orientalis (Amphibia, Caudata). After the data report, Dr. Wan-Xi Yang gave a short talk, he encouraged all the spermlab members to explore more spermatogenic secrets and to contribute more to the science. Language: English. Oct. 3, 2009 (Annual Lunar Calendar August 15th) is Chinese Traditional Mid-Autumn Festival. The Sperm Laboratory hopes all spermlab members and visitors have a Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! Hope all of us are healthy and have an excellent future.

New graduate student registered today (post on Sep. 9, 2009)
Ms. Huan Mao, the new graduate student of 2009, registered today at the College of Life Sciences, Zhejiang University. Her major is Cell Biology, and her future thesis for master degree will focus on functions of motor protein during spermatogenesis.
