Farewell Party for Ms. Yu-Sang Cheah on Oct. 23, 2010
The Sperm Laboratory held a Farewell Party for Ms. Yu-Sang Cheah on Oct. 23, 2010. Ms. Cheah was an undergraduate student of Zhejiang University (ZJU) from Sep. of 2006 to July of 2010. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Bio-technology at ZJU in July of 2010. Since July of 2010, she entered the Sperm Laboratory as a visiting student. She received research training in this laboratory, including gene cloning techniques (PCR etc.). One of Ms. Cheah's main work was to review the progress of the study on  nutritional requirement for spermatogenesis, both in spermatogenesis of human being and animals. After four months investigation, Ms. Cheah finished the review. She will leave the Sperm Laboratory for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia before the end of October, 2010. Ms. Cheah is skilled in dancing and singing. She sang and danced at the Karaoke Party at Yin Le Di KTV House. Nine lab members joined the Farewell Party.

Group meeting announcement (post on Oct. 20, 2010)
Our weekly group meeting will be held on Oct. 22, 2010, Friday. Mr. Da-Hui Wang, Ms. Huan Mao as well as Ms. Yun-Sang Cheah will present at the meeting. 1. Da-Hui Wang will report his data about the functions of genes, such as p53, nup62, as well as kifc1 during spermatogenesis in the Chinese fire-bellied newt, Cynops orientalis(Amphibia: Salamandridae). 2. Ms. Huan Mao's talk will be based on a paper which was published on Toxicol Appl Pharmacol. 2009 August 1; 238(3): 240–249. doi:10.1016/j.taap.2009.01.028, written by Erica R. Siu, Dolores D. Mruk, Catarina S. Porto, and C. Yan Cheng. 3. Ms. Yun-Sang Cheah will give us a seminar about nutrition requirement during spermatogenesis. The title of Ms. Cheah's talk is "What nutritional elements are essential for high quality spermatogenesis?". Language: English. Time: 18:30-20:30.
