Ph.D. student from Pakistan registered in Zhejiang University in September 2017. Muhammad Zeeshan Qureshi, new Ph.D. student from Pakistan entered the Sperm Laboratory in September 2017.  Zeeshan obtained master degree in August 2013 in Biosciences (Molecular Biology), COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad, Pakistaan. His major in Zhejiang University is Cell Biology.

2015 Summer Camp of College of Life Science of ZJU opened on 18 July, 2015.

Dr.Wan-Xi Yang went to Shanghai to see Prof. Nan-Shan Du on Aug. 6, 2014.
Dr. Nan-Shan Du,the 98 years old professor, was surrounded by his students in Huashan Hospital on Aug. 6, 2014. Prof. Du is one of the most famous crustacean biologists in the world, his books "Carcinology" (Vo 1 and 2), which were published in late 1980s, are very popular in Asia up to dates. His students distributed all around the world, most of them do basic and applied crustacean biological research in China, USA and Europe.

Updates on the long Summer Holiday 2014
We will have a very long Summer Holiday this year. It began on July 6, and ends on Sep. 20, 2014. Graduate students are required to stay in the lab, undergraduate students could stay and continue to work on their projects during the Summer. Six undergraduate students visit American universities (UIUC, etc) in this Summer. They are Wei-Lai Dong, Wen-Ying Guo, Yi Lu, Lian Bi, Si-Yu Li and Wen-Bo Xu.

Mini-seminar: Nanoparticles (NPs) and ovary development.
Cong-Cong Hou, Ph.D. student of the Sperm Laboratory, presented at our mini-seminar on 23 May, 2014. How do NPs affect ovary development? Do and how NPs change hormones regulation during ovary development? All these questions were addressed at the seminar.

Graduate student obtained Master Degree
Yang Lu, graduate student of the sperm laboratory, defended his thesis on Mar. 11, 2014. Professor Fan Jin was the chair of the Defense Committee. In his work, Mr. Yang Lu  investigated the potential function of KIF3A/3B during spermatogenesis in Chinese mitten crab, he found that KIF3A/3B may take part in acrosome biogenesis and nuclear shaping in this decapod species.

Spring semester of 2013-2014 school year open on Feb. 21, 2014.
After the long Winter Holiday, the Spring semester of 2013-2014 school year will begin on Feb. 21, 2014. We hope all the students of the Sperm Laboratory have a fruitful new year. We unite, we succeed!

Six students reported data and Summer Holiday experiences at the group meeting on 22 Sep., 2013
The weekly group meeting of the Sperm Laboratory was held at the Sunday night, 22 September, 2013, Six undergraduate students reported their data and their Summer Holiday experience in  USA and Taiwan, China. The six students are listed below: Ms. Lu ZHAO, Mr. Yi-Xun SU, Ms. Wen-Ying GUO, Mr. Wei-Chao WANG, Ms. Rui JIANG, and Ms. Xue-Yan QIN. Four undergraduate students visit University of Illinois ( UIUC), Purdue University and University of Rochester except Ms. Lu Zhao and Ms. Xue-Yan Qin. Ms. Xue-Yan Qin visited  Dong Hwa University and  Tunghai University in the Summer of 2013.

National High School Talent Development Plan began to execute in the Sperm Laboratory on 20 Sep., 2013.
On 20 September, 2013, Ms. Jia-Ning He and Mr. Gao-Yuan Wang, who were involved in the 1^st National High School Talent Development Plan, were formally accepted by the Sperm Laboratory, College of Life Sciences, Zhejiang University. The two outstanding high school students met Prof. Wan-Xi Yang in the morning of 20 Set., 2013. Prof. Yang told them the basic requirement for the qualification of this cultivation plan. Prof. Yang also met the parents of the two students, and asked for co-operation from them.

Happy Teacher's Day (Post on Sep. 10,  2013)
Today is the National Teacher's Day. We would like to send our sincere greetings to all the teachers who have educated all the members of the Sperm Laboratory. Hope our teachers have a Happy Teacher's Day! Hope all of you enjoy your life and be happy everyday in future.

Dr. Wan-Xi Yang visited Dong Hwa University and Tunghai University during Aug. 12-30, 2013 (Post on Sep. 8,  2013)
During the Summer Holiday, from Aug. 12 until Aug. 30, 2013, Dr. Wan-Xi Yang, together with his three colleagues, brought 14 undergraduate students to Taiwan to attend joint field courses between Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Nanjing University, Nanjing Agricultural University,  and Dong Hwa University. More than 10 professors were involved in the joint courses. During this period, Dr. Wan-Xi Yang visited Dong Hwa University and Tunghai University. 

Two undergraduates defended graduate thesis on June 9, 2013 (Post on June 9,  2013)
Ms. Ting Jiang and Ms. Yi-Ni Ke, who finished their graduate thesis in the Sperm Laboratory, defended their thesis in the morning of June 9, 2013. The titles of the two thesis are listed below: 1. Ting Jiang: Identification and expression features of sox14 gene in Chinese mitten crab Eriocheir sinensis. 2. Yi-Ni Ke: The expressional analysis of a kinesin gene kif3b in Chinese mitten crab Eriocheir sinensis. Time: 8:30-11:30; location: 123 Conference room, Life Sciences Building, Zhejiang University. Congratulations to the two ladies, Ting Jiang and Yi-Ni Ke!
